Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) defines what is and is not permitted when using HostGuru services. This AUP applies to all customers, resellers and end users and is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service.

1 Prohibited Content
You may not host, store, distribute or link to the following types of content on HostGuru infrastructure:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that sexualises minors.
- Content that incites violence, terrorism or hate based on race, religion, gender or nationality.
- Malware, ransomware, spyware, trojans, keyloggers or any malicious code.
- Phishing pages, credential-harvesting sites or fraudulent impersonation of other organisations.
- Illegal gambling platforms not licensed under Kenyan law.
- Pirated software, movies, music or other copyrighted material without licence.
Zero tolerance: CSAM and malware will result in immediate account termination and reporting to Kenyan law enforcement and international authorities without prior notice.
2 Email & Spam
- You must not send unsolicited bulk email (spam) from any HostGuru IP address.
- You must not operate open mail relays or proxies that enable third-party spam.
- All marketing emails must include a functioning unsubscribe mechanism.
- You must comply with the Kenya Information & Communications Act where applicable.
- Purchased or harvested email lists are not permitted.
3 Network Abuse
The following network activities are strictly prohibited:
- Denial-of-Service (DoS) or Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks against any target.
- Port scanning, network probing or vulnerability scanning of systems you do not own.
- IP address spoofing or ARP cache poisoning.
- Packet flooding, SYN floods or other traffic-amplification attacks.
- Intercepting or monitoring network traffic without authorisation.
4 Resource Usage
Shared hosting resources are shared among many customers. You agree not to:
- Consume server CPU consistently above 25% of a single core for extended periods on shared plans.
- Run background cryptocurrency mining scripts or bots without prior written approval.
- Store more than your allocated disk quota without upgrading your plan.
- Run persistent background processes, daemons or IRC bots on shared hosting.
5 Security
- You are responsible for keeping your web applications, plugins and scripts up to date.
- You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any HostGuru system or another customer’s account.
- Exploiting known vulnerabilities to gain elevated privileges is prohibited.
- You must report any suspected security breach of your account to us immediately.
6 Intellectual Property
You may only host content for which you own the rights or have a valid licence. HostGuru will respond to valid DMCA takedown notices and equivalent notices under Kenyan law. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.
7 Enforcement
HostGuru reserves the right to investigate suspected AUP violations and take any action we deem appropriate, including:
- Issuing a written warning.
- Temporary suspension of the offending service or entire account.
- Immediate termination without refund for serious or repeated violations.
- Reporting illegal activity to Kenyan law enforcement or international authorities.
8 Reporting Abuse
To report abuse originating from HostGuru infrastructure, email [email protected] with full email headers or server logs. We investigate all reports and aim to respond within 24 hours.
